New features and updates included with the Revenium - Fall 2024 release. This release makes the Revenium user experience more intuitive, flexible, and high-performing.
Below is a summary of the updates to Revenium, included in our Fall 2024 release. This release makes the user experience more intuitive, flexible, and high-performing.
Let’s dive into what’s new.
Key Features & Updates
Simplified User Interface & Terminology| Significant UI changes standardize terminology and create a more intuitive layout, making navigation and usage easier.
Expanded Metering Capabilities | No API? No problem. Defining metering metrics for non-API data products is easier than ever and supports any data source.
Bulk Upload Customer Data | Faster onboarding for new customers and products.
Faster Setup for Products, Sources, and Subscriptions | Streamlined metering rule configuration, plan and pricing setup, and management. Creating products, sources, and subscriptions can now be done in under 60 seconds.
Advanced Pricing Schemes | A reengineered metering engine makes configuring complex pricing schemes more efficient. It supports multiple billable metrics and individualized pricing rules for each data source or element.
Performance Boosts | Experience faster interface responsiveness and load times thanks to overall performance tuning.
New Postman Collection for Seamless API Integration | Integrate seamlessly with Revenium’s platform using Postman collection for streamlined API interactions.
Expanded Data Connectors | Connect even more data sources with new data connectors for Java Servlet, Rust, and OpenTelemetry.
REACT Storefront Components | Leverage new REACT components in the Revenium Storefront to monetize digital products directly within an existing web presence. Display a unified catalog of APIs and products, regardless of their monetization or subscription status.
Tag-Based Customization | Use product tags in the Storefront to filter and customize digital product catalog displays, enhancing customer experience and discoverability.
Improved Financial Integration | Improved integration with external financial systems tracks post-paid invoices' payment statuses. New configuration options facilitate automatic access blocking for overdue invoices and resending unpaid invoices to improve collections.
MuleSoft AEH Integration | MuleSoft AEH users can manage all APIs and API key entitlements in one location when using the Revenium integration, eliminating the need to manage multiple portals. Additionally, monetize non-Mule APIs (such as AWS, Azure, Kong) and manage access controls seamlessly via Revenium.
Terminology Changes: What’s New?
To accompany our UI updates, we’ve introduced new, clearer terminology across the platform. Here’s what you can expect:

FUNCTIONALITY CHANGE
Assets
Sources
Sources now have different types:
APIs - same functionality as assets before the Fall 2024 release.
Data Repositories - like Snowflake
Custom - any data or source you want to meter from proprietary applications or third-party data sources.
Organizations (now two classes)
Customers
Refers to external consumers of monetized products. Previously called ‘consuming organizations.’
Revenium Organizations
Creates a hierarchy within a Revenium tenant for internal users and teams - for example
API Consumers
Subscribers
-
Product Licenses
Subscriptions

Consumer Applications
Subscriber Credentials

UI Changes
Simplified Navigation
As Revenium built out solution functionality in the past, our side navigation menu expanded and grew quite unwieldy. To simplify the UX, we have reduced the options in the left side menu and grouped navigation into only a few key areas.
Main Navigation:
Sources– Set up connections to send data to Revenium for analytics, metering, and monetization.
Products & Pricing– Configure options and definitions for products, product lines, pricing rules, and SLAs.
Customers– Manage customer interactions and account structures. Specifically, configure options for Companies, Users, and Subscriber Credentials.
Billing & Invoicing– This module's functionality remainsprimarily unchanged in this release. It allows you to track invoice history, search for invoices, manage refunds, and review SLAs.
Analytics– Each reporting section now features a new horizontal navigation menu, making navigating between the various reports in our analytics catalog easier.
Account Configuration– Numerous one-time account configuration functions and system log pages have been moved to the account and configuration menus.
The Account Configuration options are available by choosing one of the icons in the dashboard's upper right corner.
Gear Icon– Configure and administer Revenium account: users and permissions, sub-organization management; manage customer notification templates, review system logs, and manage external integrations.
Profile Icon—Configure and manage personal Revenium user account; password, security, and profile information; and subscription and payment methods.
While we don't expect significant issues with our usability-focused changes to navigation and terminology if you need assistance, use the new search bar in the upper left to find content specific help or contact us via the in-app chat. Our Customer Support team will get you pointed in the right direction!
Improving Account Hierarchies
Impacts Existing Revenium Customers Using Multiple Organizations
The release includes more precise delineation between Revenium Organizations (multiple business units that create different products, subscriptions, etc.) and Customer Organizations.
From now on, newly created organizations will automatically be designated as either a Revenium or Customer Organization as the respective objects are created.
As these concepts were not previously separated, we have enabled existing organizations to appear as both Customers and Revenium Organizations. Optionally, existing Organizations can be classified to appear in the correct category. If you would like to make this change, please send a list of your customers and their related Revenium organizations to support@revenium.io. Our support team will make the category changes for you.
Pro Tip: To keep customer records connected to the Revenium account they belong to, we recommend editing each customer record to ensure that the proper ‘parent organization’ is selected. This update to the record will ensure that customers of a given organization are visible only to users with access to that organization. Customers without a parent organization will be visible to other Revenium users.
The graphic below shows how parent organization can be added using the drop-down marked in red.
